SUMMARY:El gabinete del Dr. Caligari | Cine de género de Alemania
DESCRIPTION:En el jardín de una clínica psiquiátrica\, el paciente Francis cuenta su historia: en la feria de un pequeño pueblo del norte de Alemania\, el Dr. Caligari\, de aspecto fantasmal\, anuncia actuaciones de hipnosis con su médium sin voluntad Cesare. Alan y Francis\, ambos enamorados de la misma chica\, asisten a la actuación de Caligari. Caligari anuncia que su médium responderá al público a preguntas sobre el futuro. Cuando Alan quiere saber cuánto tiempo vivirá\, oye la respuesta: “¡Hasta el amanecer!”. Al día siguiente aparece muerto. Su amigo Francis sospecha inmediatamente de Caligari… \nLa película se considera el punto culminante del expresionismo en la historia del cine. “Las películas deben ser dibujos animados”: éste era el lema de Hermann Warm en aquella época\, según el cual él y sus dos colegas Walter Röhrig y Walter Reimann construyeron escénicamente el mundo del Dr. Caligari. En consecuencia\, los decorados de CALIGARI eran una variedad de formas dentadas y puntiagudas\, que recordaban mucho a los modelos góticos”. (Siegfried Kracauer en “De Caligari a Hitler”) Las tomas se caracterizan por una metódica distorsión de las perspectivas\, el mundo parece como si hubiera sido inclinado fuera de quicio\, y la mirada del espectador experimenta una irritación sistemática. Mientras que hasta ahora en la historia del cine el decorado nunca había sido más que un decorado de fondo e ilustrativo\, aquí la escenografía adquiere una nueva función y significado. Los decorados\, y no la actuación de los actores\, transmiten la desesperación\, la tragedia y la desesperanza. \nEs poco probable que otra obra haya tenido una influencia tan intensa en el desarrollo posterior del cine mudo alemán; después de CALIGARI\, el interés ya existente por el cine fantástico se intensificó\, y con él comenzó un giro intenso hacia la psicopatología y las figuras criminales demoníacas y peligrosas.
